What Vitamins Are Good To Take For Acne Skin?
Most of the people do not get adequate amount of vitamins and minerals for their body. Only a very minimum percentage of the population consumes enough vitamins and minerals. The fact is there are a number of nutrients good to take for acne skin.
It is best to take vitamins in natural form like through vegetables and fruits, etc. Though you can take vitamins in pill form, but taking an overdosage can cause more problem to your health instead of improving it.
What vitamins are good to take for acne skin?
~Vitamin A~
Also known as beta-carotine or retinol. It is a good source to aid skin growth, teeth and bones. It provides antioxidant and is great for preventing cancer ,pollution. It also helps to improve the immune system and prevent night blindness.
You can get vitamin A by taking fish liver oil, green leafy vegetables like spinach, carrots, pumpkins, watermelons, mangoes, potatoes, broccoli, etc.
However, do take note that consuming an overdosage of Vitamin A can cause toxicity. Generally if a person is taking 20mg a day (34,000 IU), it can already turn the skin yellow. If vitamin A level exceeds 100,000 IU, it is considered to be toxic. I wouldn't advise buying vitamin A supplements because you can simply achieve a good require amount 1/4 cup of leafy green vegetables or one tablespoon of cooked carrots.
~Vitamin C~
Vitamin C is an antioxidant, helps to promote healthy skin by eradicating free radicals from the body. It is also good for fighting against cold. When you are lacking of vitamin C in your body, acne breakout will form more easily. Increase in your Vitamin C consumption to help curing your current acne more quickly.
Vitamin C is mainly found in citrus fruits and vegetables.
~Vitamin E~
Vitamin E is good for healing scar even by just applying. It also consists of antioxidant properties. Just a small amount of this vitamin is good enough for our immune system. It protects the cell membrance and regulate the retinol level in our body. It complements well with other antioxidant.
Vitamin E can come from vegetable oil, sunflower seeds, carrot juice, special K cereal etc.
~Niacin~
Niacin, also commonly know as Vitamin B3, helps to open up the blood vessels, promoting good circulation below the skin. Unlike the other vitamins mentioned, niacin can be effectual as a mask directly placed on the skin. It is also been used for weight loss, diabetes and arthritis.
Niacin is normally found in animal source such as lean red meat, fish, organ meat. Vegetables like turnip and celery also can provide niacin.
Toxic overdose of niacin from natural food is quite rare, it can cause toxication when is taken in megadoses of 200,000mg or more at the same time.
~Zinc~
Zinc is also a well known trace mineral used in acne treatment. It helps with growth and wound healing.
Food source of zinc can be found in poultry, wheat germ, fortified cereals, sunflower seeds, nuts, etc.
A deficiency of zinc can weaken the immune system and can also cause acne, but too much will cause your body not to absorb other essential minerals in your body and also will affect the metabolism rate.
A zinc dose of 40mg is considered to be safe, but if you take a dose of 150mg to 450mg a day, it can cause side effect.
So next time, if you are wondering what vitamin is good to keep your skin free from pimples, you should consider taking the above mentioned vitamins, but REMEMBER take only the right dosage require for your body. :)
